This assignment was part of the initial phase of the Modeling The Future Challenge (MTFC), which is a group competition where students aim to create a mathematical model that addresses and provides actionable steps towards solving a specified problem. This assignment specifically was analyzing given data sets and answering questions related to those data sets, which acts as preparation for the real deal.
This assignment created a fictional scenario in which a school was taking 140 additional students, and needed to hire 7 new staff members to manage this. Our job was to examine the data of the current students, where they were placed, as well as where the teachers were placed, and justifiably decide which departments the 7 new teachers should go to. In groups, we made presentations to discuss our findings and solutions.
