Advanced French is a fully immersive course taught by Madame Wildfong. In this class we learn French by watching films, reading, playing games, and making our own short films in French.
One of our first assignments in French was to write a reflection on the article about the importance of learning a second language by Tamim Ansary. Coming from a Hindi-speaking background, I found this article fascinating, as it discussed the uniqueness of each language, and the inability to directly translate languages. As my understanding of French has grown, I have found this article to be highly-applicable to many French phrases and syntax. To view this reflection in a larger browser click here!
One of my favorite activities from this year was preparing a french dish. I decided to make a traditional French Quiche, which is a French tart consisting of a pastry crust filled with savory custard, cheese, and vegetables. After making our dishes, we made a presentation on the ingredients we used, the preparation of our dish, and what we would do in the future to improve the dish.
