Humanities is an English and History oriented class taught by Ms. Small. Humanities allows students to broaden their perspectives by gaining a better understanding of society through analyzing a variety of historical and cultural readings, essays, group projects, and class discussions. This course allows students to investigate the central question: What does it mean to be human?
The first essay we wrote was about the education system, which followed a unit on examining the American education system through historical and modern-day readings. The Egyption Poetry Essay was our first timed rhetorical essay, in which we wrote a response to a collection of secular Egyption Poetry from ancient Egypt. This collection of poems discusses love from different perspectives. I enjoyed writing this essay and analyzing these poems, as it is interesting to see how societal behavior regarding love has remained the same, and what aspects have changed.
