Annapurna Pariwar

Annapurna Pariwar, Pune, India

Over the summer of '23, I was lucky enough to volunteer at an non-governmental organization (NGO) in Pune, India, called Annapurna Pariwar. Unfortunately, India is a largely impoverished country with many slum pockets, which Annapurna Pariwar works to fight against by providing financial loans and education to women from slums in Pune and Mumbai. My work this summer consisted of creating a database for members’ geo locations for home loan insurance using Excel, Google Maps, and Google Apps Script.

Danforth Museum of Art @ FSU

Giving Museum Tours at the Danforth Museum of Art
The Danforth Museum

The Danforth Museum of Art @ Framingham State University holds a very special place in my heart, as it is the school that I grew up learning the fundamentals of art at. For the past two years I have gotten the opportunity to give back to the school by volunteering as a studio assistant, aiding with overall program facilitation. Through this role, I work directly with varied audiences throughout the year. My favorite part of Danforth’s philosophy are the Creative Choice Projects (CCP) during the summer program, which allow kids to apply art and creativity to STEM-related projects. My favorite CCP to date was creating pendulums to create pendulum art! I was also responsible for leading museum tours in the Danforth Museum galleries during the summer weeks using Visual Thinking Strategies. I am deeply grateful to the Danforth for all the experience it has instilled within me and fueling my love of art. If you have never visited the Danforth Museum, I highly encourage you to stop by!
