Physics

Our Physics class, taught by Ms. Chase, we learn based on the AP Physics C curriculum. We learn a multitude of topics such as kinematics, dynamics, momentum, and more. In class, besides just taking notes, we also participate in a lot of hand-on labs and group projects to make learning the complicated topic easier, more collaborative, and even fun! These activities allow us to better understand and apply the topics in more real-world examples and scenarios. Although the material can be very challenging compared to your normal physics or math class, the way the class is structured helps us break down each idea step by step and makes it a lot more fun. Being able to finally grasp a tough concept is very rewarding, making all the effort we put in truly worth it.

Dynamics Lab

In the Dynamics Lab, we worked to find the relationship between force, mass, and acceleration. We were able to choose what we wanted to analyze, so my group and I chose to have two different masses hanging off of the sides of a cart and see how the changes in force can affect the acceleration.

Traffic Light Problem

This assignment was a POW, or a problem of the week. We worked in groups to figure out how long a yellow light should last based on the ideas that: “If the car chooses to stop, it must be able to stop before the white line of the intersection. If it chooses to go, it must completely cross the intersection before the light turns red without accelerating.” We used the four kinematic equations to work and find our solution, and you can see our work in this document.
