I also spend a lot of my time helping at our local community center. Whether it’s assisting with organizing events, setting up for programs, or providing support to community members, I find it incredibly fulfilling to be involved in activities that bring people together. Below is a picture of me dressing up in the Polar Beverage Company’s Polar Bear costume for my town’s Winter Festival. I also help with Start Smart Basketball, which ensures that young children get exposed to sports in a safe and non-competitive environment to ensure proper skills development.
The Mass Academy Community Service Club has allowed me numerous opportunities to give back to my community. We have been able to host numerous "STEM Saturdays" where we go to local libraries and host STEM lessons such as mirror mazes or slime making. Additionally, we recently held a food drive where we stood outside of Shaw’s in Shrewsbury and handed out flyers for what Abby's House in Worcester was in need of. After two hours, we were able to collect 8 shopping carts full of food.
Volunteering at the food shelf in our town was one of the most fulfilling experiences I’ve had. I spend my time helping those in need in my community by assisting them with shopping at the food shelf and bringing their groceries to their cars. It was truly inspiring to witness the impact that a community can have when they come together to support one another.
