I am currently in intermediate Spanish, where we are learning the basics of Spanish. This class is really fun, especially because we were all learning together and have some funny moments when we are trying to say what we want to say in Spanish. The entire class only speaks in Spanish, and we get to do some fun activities such as playing Monopoly and other card games. We also did a field trip to the Worcester Art Museum, where we completed a scavenger hunt only speaking in Spanish.
This was our term Spanish recording practice. We were given a text that we had to read and record. These assignments are really cool as it gives me something to look back on and see my progress. She gives us multiple takes, where after you do it once, she will grade it and give you advice on your pronunciation, and then allow you to rerecord it. This recording was a page of the book we were reading at the time about a mystery key in an archaeological dig.
For one of our assignments, we worked on art presentations. Each of us was tasked with researching an artist from a Spanish-speaking country and creating a presentation about their work. Before our field trip to the Worcester Art Museum, we completed this project, which focused on learning how to describe the location of objects using terms like "in front of" and "behind." For the assignment, we were assigned an artist and chose three of their works to describe in detail. I really enjoyed this project because I connected deeply with the artist and their artwork. I especially appreciated the natural themes present in their creations, which made the experience even more meaningful for me..
