Humanities is an awesome class where we get to read and then have some very detailed conversations about what we have read. It is cool because we also get to learn a lot about the history of the United States and it's coming to be through these readings in a different way than you would get in a typical American History class. One of my favorite things to read was Walden. Walden allowed me to learn a lot about history, especially in Massachusetts, which was an awesome experience learning more about my home state.
TThis is my Walden reading journal. Every chapter, we were asked to write a short reflection on what we had read in a non-formal format. This was a fun way for me to reflect back on what I read and try to understand it. While at times he might have had radical thoughts, it was cool to go back with this document and compare notes with other students and have in-depth conversations about what we had read.
This is my opinion essay on why I think that schools should be federally funded. We get to choose any topic relating to education and write about it. This was extremely meaningful to me as education is something that I am extremely passionate about. One of my strongest memories from writing this was one day walking in the park and brainstorming with classmates. I went on a long walk with one of my friends, and we discussed education from where he is from and how it differs from the United States. I thought that this exact moment was really cool, and it sparked a strong friendship between the two of us as we learned more about each other’s educational backgrounds.
