I was born and raised in Massachusetts. Prior to MAMS, I’ve always lived less than or equal to ten minutes away from my schools. While my family here only consists of me and my parents, my family abroad is extensive and I love travelling to visit them. I have a turtle named Chip and when I was younger I used to raise quails! I love cats, poetry, and my favorite color is #9679d1.
From listening to making, I love music. Currently, my favorite artists are Hozier, Noah Kahan, and Sabrina Carpenter! I trained as a woodwind “doubler”, learning flute first and then branching to baritone and alto saxophone (though I’m not very good..)
My favorite memory surrounding music is tech week during my freshman year as a pit orchestra musician. Tech week, the week before the show, involved everyone staying at school until 10 or 11 PM each night to rehearse. Since we often skipped dinner, we relied on bags upon bags of plain Wegmans bagels that we brought into the pit. Naturally, when we weren’t eating them during rests, we threw them at each other. It was terribly chaotic and one of the most entertaining experiences I’ve ever had.
The hobby that I have the most and least time for is reading. I love fantasy, though recently I’ve been enjoying realistic fiction and sci-fi. My top two comfort books are Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. I’m currently reading What My Bones Know: A Memoir of Healing from Complex Trauma by Stephanie Foo.
Outreach is one of many aspects of FIRST Robotics. On Team 1100, I volunteered and facilitated many events, with one of my favorite roles being a Master of Ceremonies (MC) at FIRST Lego League (FLL) events. So far, I have had the privilege of announcing at Titan Test Drive, the Northborough Qualifier, and the Massachusetts FLL State Championship! As a FLL MC, I introduce teams and provide commentary throughout each match, providing commentary as 6 fields play. Being a volunteer and not a participant at events has definitely allowed me to take a peek "behind the curtain," and being able to give back to the FIRST community has been incredibly rewarding.
Although I am no longer on Team 1100, I try to stay connected with the FIRST community. This past year, I have volunteered at off-season events (River Rage and Girls Behind the Glass), and I plan to volunteer at district events as well!
