Robotics

At my sending school Algonquin Regional High School, I was a member on FIRST Robotics Competition Team 1100. On the team, I worked closely with the mentors and student leadership on mechanical aspects of the robot, game strategy, competition analysis, sponsor communication, award essays, and guided newer students throughout FIRST. In 2023, we went all the way to the FIRST World Championship in Houston, Tx where we competed with the best robots in the world and attended conferences about all aspects of engineering in a professional environment. In 2024, I was chosen to be one of two representatives for 1100 as a FIRST Dean’s List Nominee!

Music

My dad, an avid classical music listener, instilled a love for music in me from a young age. I started with piano in second grade but found my love in flute in my district’s music program. I started playing saxophone in eighth grade after learning there was no flute part in middle school Jazz and subsequently given the choice to transpose from trumpet (blegh) or pick up a new instrument. I have progressed with my school, playing in ensembles ranging from classical chamber groups to pit orchestra for musicals; my favorite ensemble to play in by far. Music has allowed me to meet amazing people, allowed me to express myself, and taught me the importance of time management–a skill that has become increasingly important as time goes on.

Peer Leadership

I have been a peer leader with the World of Difference Institute Peer Leadership Program since 8th grade in my school district. As a member of WoD, we are given two-day interactive workshops from professionals training us with the knowledge, resources, and skills to respond to prejudice and discrimination before developing and facilitating our own lessons to create a positive and safe school environment.

Alongside ADL, this summer I attended an invite-based leadership conference through my town’s Rotary club: Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA). This intensive 3-day experience was filled with presentations, workshops, and discussions about ways to bring positive change to our community as well as communication skills and conflict management. RYLA allowed me to meet like-minded individuals from fifty Rotary clubs in Massachusetts while teaching me skills I will carry with me throughout life.
