Math Modeling

Taught by Ms. Burns, Math at MAMS is a unique experience for every student. Using open-ended problem-solving, each student is able to contribute and develop further understanding of different mathematical applications and their connection to the real-world no matter where they start from.

Epsilon School

Epsilon School was a project we worked on near the beginning of the year. A new wing is being added to the Epsilon School to accomodate an increase in class size. We were given parameters about the sizes of each class and informed that seven additional faculty members would be hired. Our task was to allocate faculty members across English, Social Studies, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and Foreign Language based on our given parameters as well as our own assumptions. I worked with Adam Yanco and Harshil Hari for this project!

MTFC

A math modeling competition we participate in is the Modeling the Future Challenge (MTFC). Here, we learn about risk analysis and actuarial science, focusing on a topic of our choosing. My group included Grace Qiu, Jessica Froment, Adel Benchemam, and Sohini Saini. We decided to focus on the e-sports industry due to its rising prevalence and potential risk for players. Alongside our project proposal, we also completed a scenario quest provided by MTFC to further prepare us with the data and statistical skills we would need for future rounds.
