Physics

Course Description

In Physics, Mr.Ellis covers topics from the AP physics 1 curriculum as well as an optional track covering the AP physics C using somewhat watered-down calculus. Throughout each unit, we do many physics problems from previous years tests and quizzes. In class we go over notes and discuss content with one another to gain a better understanding of the course content. We also do Über problems every now and then which require a more formal write-up of a larger physics problem. See two examples below.

Über problem for Kinematics

This is the first Über problem that we did was for our Kinematics unit. This problem introduced us into splitting problems into stages so we could solve the familiar smaller parts and combine answers until we reached the final solution. Ultimately, the most time-consuming part of the assignment probably was getting formatting and everything to look nice and fit on two pages.

Über problem for Forces

This Über problem dealt more closely with forces, like gravity and friction, though kinematics were still used to get the final answer. This time, using Microsoft word to do the final write-up was significantly easier due to having previous practice.
