Humanities

Summary

Humanities is taught by Ms. Small. In Humanities, we combine English, history, and psychology to answer the question, “What does it mean to be human?” Through analyzing texts, writing essays, and conducting group projects, we get closer to answering this question every day.

Satrical Analysis

At the end of our satire unit, we were tasked with writing an essay comparing two satirical texts. I compared how “A Modest Proposal” by Jonathan Swift and “Friday Black” by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah satirize the wealthy and greedy. You can see my essay below.

Walden Skit

At the beginning of the year, we were tasked with making a skit that highlighted an important aspect about Walden, our summer reading book. My group decided to highlight how the author, Henry David Thoreau, often went against his teachings of minimalism and living off nature. We incorporated a lot of modern culture to give the skit a humorous tone. You can see our script below.
