Line Art

One of our assignments was to draw the image shown using one for loop for each corner. This was really fun to program, every wrong trial ended up with an interesting design. It was also really interesting to visually see what the program would do and fix it from there.

Stars Program

Another program we wrote was called Stars, which randomly generated 10 stars of different-sizes and placed them randomly. This had a lot of math behind writing equations to find the point of the stars. This was really fun to figure out in a group.

Problem

The importance of financial literacy is often overlooked by guardians and educators, but it is crucial for the independence of anyone. Therefore, many teens and young adults lack an understanding of how to handle their finances. This is a major issue as it is around this time that many students become more independent with their finances. Many of these teens and young adults struggle with basic topics, for example taxes or credit cards. These topics are vital for creating good financial standing. Financial skills are necessary to being active members of society, making it imperative to address this educational shortfall.

Target Audience

Our target audience is young adults between high-school and college that are starting to gain financial independence. These teens and young adults have limited knowledge on finance, which needs to be addressed before they have complete financial independence. To cater to this audience, we utilize short videos and quick quizzes to account for the shortened attention span of current young adults.

Solution/Minimum Viable Product

Our solution is a financial literacy app designed to educate young adults through a modular learning system. Each module covers a different monetary topic, with lessons comprising short videos and mini quizzes. The videos, sourced from reliable YouTube channels, are under 5 minutes to accommodate short attention spans. The quizzes are no more than 5 short questions and are used to ensure the user fully watched and understood the content of the video. This structure ensures that users can learn at their own pace, revisiting lessons as needed. The app’s design prioritizes ease of use, enabling users to integrate learning into their busy schedules effortlessly. This MVP aims to provide a comprehensive, user-friendly financial education platform that addresses the current gaps in financial literacy among young adults. Due to the scope of the project, we decided to create a single module called Credit v. Debit v. Cash.
