Physics at Mass Academy is a course that teaches us about the laws of matter and energy that are constantly in play throughout the real world. We conduct numerous labs and experiments, analyze data, and write conclusions on our findings. The class is very hands-on and testing your calculations is always fun!
This was the first lab that we completed this year, and the goal of the lab was to find the acceleration of a cart traveling on an inclined plane. To find this value, we conducted an experiment in which we released the cart at different angles and observed the velocity at a set point using a photogate. After this, we created graphs representing the data and found a linear trend. You can learn more about this lab by reading my lab report to the left!
A recent lab report that we had to complete was on the topic of dynamics. We could choose any hypothesis related to what we were learning in class to try and test on our own. My group decided to choose the following research question: Does the friction generated from a surface and block depending on the surface area of the block touching the surface? We conducted our experiments and came to the conclusion that surface area and the coefficient of friction are independent values. Take a look to your left to see my lab report!
