Hello, my name is Isha Nagireddy and I am a junior at MAMS this year.
My sending school is Shrewsbury High School, and I have lived in
Shrewsbury my entire life. I have one younger sister named Neha, and 2
younger cousins named Tanay and Arjun. I love spending time with my
family and friends! My hobbies include traveling, playing volleyball,
coding, and dancing. Scroll down to learn more about each of these
activities.
I love traveling with my family! We mainly like to visit tropical places. Every year, we go to Cancun, Mexico and stay at different resorts such as Riviera Maya and The Grand Moon Palace. We have also visited other places such as Punta Cana, the Bahamas, and Bermuda. I enjoy traveling mainly because of the different things I can try out that I wouldn't be able to try out in Shrewsbury. Some of these activities include going scuba diving, swimming with dolphins, parasailing, bungee jumping, and ziplining. This summer, I was finally old enough to drive an ATV on my own, and it was really fun! Hover over the the videos to see some of the cool things I got to do.
I have been playing volleyball since the summer before ninth grade and I have loved it ever since. In ninth and tenth grade, I played for the Shrewsbury High School JV teams and also played club volleyball at SLAM. This year since I hope to continue playing club volleyball. I also like playing recreationally over the summer, and participate in beach volleyball at Ski Ward.
Another important part of my life is dancing. I had been learning classical dance for over 9 years, from first grade to ninth. While I don't take classes anymore, I still often go to my friends' performances and practice on my own. Dance has been my main connection my culture, and learning for such a long time, I believe it will always be a part of my life!
Finally, another large part of my life is coding. I have been coding since 8th grade, and I run the Technovation Club at Oak Middle School. I have also finished many projects through school and for fun. A few of my favorite projects include TalkToMe: an application that detects suicidal intention on social media, and FastUC: an application that guarantees patients the fastest time before treatment. I'm currently still working on both of these projects, and looking at advance them further. I have also gotten to present these ideas at really cool places such as Capitol Hill and science fairs. I hope to continue advancing my skills in coding this year in computer science!
Over junior year, I spent a lot of time volunteering at Oak Middle School in Shrewsbury. At Oak my friend Niara and I have created a club called Technovation. Technovation aims to teach younger girls in grades 7-8 about the importance of computer science and entrepreneurship. We take the kids through a curriculum and teach them about the basics of mobile app development and artificial intelligence. In addition to this, we also talk about specific business concepts such as market research, branding, and marketing. By the end of the program, students create either a mobile app or AI model that solves a problem in their community, and they also develop a user adoption plan to go along with it. Overall, running Technovation at the local middle school has been great opportunity for me to give back to my own community and also work towards introducing CS to students at a younger age!
