In case you didn't know, Humanities is a mix between history and regular English class. Ms. Small teaches this course. We have units about significant and interesting topics such as race, and education. We have a lot of discussion in this course to learn from others' experiences and perspectives on topics. This is an essay that we had to do for our education unit towards the beginning of the year. Based on our discussion and class readings, we were able to choose our own prompt. For my essay (which is to the right), I specifically focused on the concept of opportunities in school and the unfairness of how it is largely based on socioeconomic principles.
In the fall we had a satire unit! It basically studies the irony and rhetorical side of writing and all of the techniques. Along with my friend Maya Suskin, (who is a righty), she and I (a lefty) wrote a satire on left-handness and its place in society, which was really fun to write and overall a really fun project.
