Physics

The Advanced Physics class is taught by Mrs.Chase and covers most of the AP Physics 1 and AP Physics C curriculum. In this class, we delve into problem solving using algebra and calculus and move in a relatively fast pace. Some of the major topics include kinematics, dynamics, energy, and rotational motion. We have homework assigned almost every night, with quizzes and tests to check our overall understanding of the unit.

Dynamics Lab Report

After learning the basics and gaining a proper foundation on Dynamics, we were asked to develop a question that relates to the unit. For this lab, we were able to form a question, hypothesize a potential result and prove our hypothesis with evidence. For instance, my question was investigating if the force of friction between two surface varies with normal force. My hypothesis was that the relationship between the mass of an object and the force of friction would be linear, meaning that increasing the weight of an object would have to increase the force of friction that would be required to move the object, as the mu value will be constant.

Physics Dynamics POW

POW is known as the 'Problem of the Week' and this POW is the Ramp-Projectile Optimization problem. A POW consists of a problem statement, process description, solution and extensions. There is also an evaluation we complete at the end to reflect on the process. This problem combines both the kinematics and dynamics units to advance our understanding of the topics. Everything is connected!
