Physics, a class taught by Ms. Chase, is an exploration of various topics, from motion and dynamics to electricity and magnetism. The course is closely aligned with the course content of AP Physics 1, AP Physics C - Mechanics, and AP Physics C - Electricity and Magnetism. We do a wide variety of assignments like labs, experiments, and papers to reinforce learned concepts.
Before we started the kinematics unit, we did a little history digging. Although physics is a lot of math, I enjoyed looking into the history of physics. Everyone had to create a one-page poster about a discovery that won the Nobel Prize in physics. I worked with Rishit on this assignment. Together, we made a poster about the 2008 Nobel Prize winners. Here is a pdf of the poster: Nobel Prize Poster.
In the dynamics unit of physics, we could design our own lab to examine the properties of dynamics. I worked in a team with Adam and Harshil. We decided to determine if the relationship between force, mass, and acceleration of two weighted cars on different inclined planes follows Newton's second law by using a modified Atwood machine. This was lab helped me deepen my understanding about Atwood machines and look at it from a different perspective. Designing this lab was also a lot of fun! Here is the physics lab final paper.
