Physics

Physics is taught by Mrs. Chase and is a rigorous course that incorporates both algebra-based and calculus-based approaches. The curriculum closely aligns with AP Physics. We deepen our understanding through real-world problem solving, designing our own labs, and conducting experiments. Topics covered so far include kinematics, dynamics, energy, and momentum.

Lab #1: Acceleration on an Inclined Plane

In this kinematics lab, we analyzed linearized velocity–displacement data to determine a cart’s acceleration on inclined planes and study how changing the angle affects motion. This lab helped reinforce kinematics concepts through experimentation and analysis. Having trouble viewing the file? See here!

Lab #2: Dynamics Lab

We created a dynamics lab experiment using a modified Atwood’s machine to measure the force of a fan using Newton’s Second Law. By analyzing the linear relationship between hanging mass and acceleration, the fan’s force was determined and compared to direct sensor measurements. Having trouble viewing the file? See here!
