Humanities

Humanities is a blend between a History class and an English class, with a few other minor social-science topics involved. As the name "Humanities" suggests, the class's focus is regarding humanity, and what exactly it means to be a human being. The class is heavily discussion-based, in which a great deal of classes are purely conversation, but students are also required to write two essays every term.

The first essay of the year was a writing looking at two of Ray Bradbury's writings, "August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rains" and "The Pedestrian." Both of these show a potential dystopian future that may result from technology, leading to the fall of humans. The essay I wrote is embedded below.

One essay I wrote in B term was an analysis between a traditional argument and a satirical piece. The topic I chose at hand was big tech's influence, including censorship by large social media sites. I compared the traditional argument from the New York Post to the satirical article by The Babylon Bee, deciding that the satirical piece was ultimately better.
