❭ In this class, taught by Sra Wildfong, we focus on acquiring language proficiency through the use of authentic materials, including literature, music, film, discussions, and games. We understand grammar in meaningful contexts and engage in project-based learning as they produce podcasts, make movies, and engage in small group projects. Two assignments I’ve completed include an essay on a childhood hobby and an essay about why it’s important to learn a second language.█
Our first unit in Spanish examined the significance of childhood. Throughout this unit, we looked at various Spanish literature and film examples that described childhood and its brevity. For this assignment, we wrote about an aspect of our own childhood in Spanish. I decided to write about a hobby of mine, robotics, and how it developed and played a role in the life of a younger me.
As our first assignment in Spanish, this assignment tasked us with reflecting on a reading about why it’s important to learn a second language. For me, it helped establish a greater perspective on the meaning and insight languages can offer into different cultures.
