Chapter 6: Privacy and the Government
The grand majority of the plot only exists within the town of Stepford, and as far as the audience knows, this is the only town
where the robots are being made. So, it would stand to reason that the United States or Connecticut State government isn't really
involved in the matter, nor are they aware of what's transpiring. However, on the local level, the police are shown to be in on
the matter, since they dutifully guard the Men's Association and attempt to track down Joanna at the end of the movie. Additionally,
it seems that on some level the Men's Association holds at least some form of governmental power if they are able to be doing all
of this without alerting any suspicion or consequences.
