Chapter 10: Automation and Globalization

It's quite clear that automation is at heart of the movie. The men in the movie create these robots as a way to automate what they perceive to be as the role and duty of women. Instead of automating any one particular job, it's automation of women as people. It's clear that some form of artificial intelligence is used in order for the robots to carry out any form of sensible conversation. Yet, it feels a bit insulting to insinuate that these robots are imitating human intelligence when it feels pretty clear that they were made to be void of any (which is made clear by the vapid and circular conversations that the robots have, attempting to replicate what the robots think women should talk about based on what the men think that women should about). In terms of globalization, there doesn't seem to be much occurring. The operation seems to only occur on the local level.
