A Machine Learning Method to Optimizing the Tensile Strength of Starch-Based Bioplastics

DESCRIPTION & GRANT PROPOSAL

Currently in the field, one of the biggest problems with bioplastics is their lack of strength. Therefore, my project will be able to help scientists in estimating bioplastic tensile strength beforehand, thereby allowing them to focus on other mechanical properties of the bioplastic, such as the elongation or water resistance of the plastic. This in turn will allow for bioplastics with much better mechanical properties to be fabricated, meaning that current synthetic plastics can be replaced and that plastic pollution and carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced!
