Effects of Blue Light on Circadian Rhythms in Drosophila Melanogaster

In today's world, technology is a part of everyone's daily life. Connected to this is the widespread issue of sleep deprivation within almost every age group. Excessive use of technology has the potential to alter the cycle of your circadian rhythm (which normally runs for an even split of 12 hours day/night) into something more obscure. Specifically, this is caused by the blue light that is emitted, altering the activity of one's cryptochromes (sensitive to blue light), which play a key role in clock regulation. Unfortunately, however, cures to this issue are yet to be developed because of our scarce understanding of the circadian rhythm as a whole.
