About the Course: Our hums teacher is Mrs. Small. Differing slightly from an English course, humanities not only covers a wider variety of literature, but also delves into topics from both modern and older times. This is all in order to better understand our perception of the world around us and engage in deep class discussions. This class works to answer one simple question: What does it mean to be human?

WRITING:

One of my best pieces of writing was a short satirical analysis comparing two texts we had read. A Modest Proposal and Babycakes are two related satires, where the latter was actually inspired by the publication of the former! They aimed to criticize societal norms through disturbing and exaggerated proposals which would "solve" the issues... (This was not a full formal essay)

READING:

As per MAMS tradition, we started school having read Walden by Henry David Thoreau over the summer. As dense of a book as it may have been, there's no denying that we had a blast making our skits. At the camp Bournedale trip, one night was dedicated to watching skits relating to the book, which we had spent prior weeks preparing for. Part of my group's script can be seen below!
