Physics

Physics is a course taught by Ms. Chase, and the course content is aligned with the AP Physics C curriculum. Throughout the year, we complete practice problems, in-class labs applying what we have learnt, and end-of-chapter problems for each unit to enhance our comprehension. After learning the material, we take a quiz and finally a test towards the end of each unit.

Acceleration on an Inclined Plane Lab

"This lab investigated the acceleration of a cart on an inclined plane at two different elevations. By applying the constant acceleration equation, we utilized linear regression to determine experimental acceleration from the slope of velocity-squared vs. distance graphs. This lab also showed us how physics formulas and real-world results can differ due to other factors we may not have accounted for, which contribute to the percent error.

Dynamics Lab

This was another lab where we applied the concept of dynamics to (in this version of the experiment) examine the relationship between opposing fan force and the acceleration of a cart on a fixed incline plane. Varying the fan speed levels, we measured how the force of the wind hindered the cart's motion. With further analysis, we demonstrated that the relationship is linear, where the slope of the Acceleration vs. Fan Force graph represents the negative inverse of the cart's mass. This lab highlights the application of Newton's Second Law.
