In Humanities, we learn to think critically and communicate effectively. We analyze different texts in depth, have discussions about real life topics, and write essays analyzing and arguing about topics. Our class overall explores the question, "What does it mean to be human?" This leads us to topics such as education, the brain, communication, satire, and more. We dive into texts from the past to look for answers, and discuss what our current world looks like. In this class, we learn how to have an opinion on something and then back it up with evidence whether in our class discussions or in our essays.

AI in Education Synthesis Essay

After exploring education, different philosophes' perspecitves on education, and the development of education in USA, we explored the role of AI in education. We learned about the different perspectives and then we had to make an argument about what role we believed AI should take in education. However, instead of only using evidence that supported our viewpoint, we had to use conflicting viewpoints from several different perspectives, such as both students and teachers. This is why it was called a synthesis essay, since we brought together all the different points of view and synthesized them for our argument.

Satire Analysis Essay

In B Term, we learned about satire. Satire is when the author ridicules a topic in order to point out their critiques. It is often funny while still revealing a flaw in society. Satire dates back to the Roman times, but it is still used in modern literaure as well. Satire can be a very effective device to make arguments instead of general rhetorics for arguemntative pieces. In my essay, I analyze and compare and contrast an arguemntative article with a satirical article. They both make the same argument about the flaws in the current education system. However, in my esay, I take a close look at the different devices each of the articles uses and argue why the satire is much more effective than the argumentative article.
