Sucrose as a Foliar Additive to Upregulate Nitrate Reductase Acitivity in Arabidopsis Under Elevated CO2

As CO2 levels escalate across the globe, mitigating and assessing the negative impacts of this atmospheric development have become critical in today's time. A reality that cannot be ignored, increasing CO2 dilutes plant nutritional value and vastly reduces protein content, a problem which is addressed at the physiological and agricultural level in this project. Through the use of a 5% sucrose foliar solution, this pilot study finds that nitrogen metabolic efficiency increases under high CO2 conditions, which is strongly in line with an increase in nitrate reductase activity as the enzymatic level. Further research is reuqired to estblish a true causal relationship and evaluate the effectiveness of this strategy outside of the lab with real-world crops
