Band

I have played the trumpet since I was in 5th grade in the Sutton Band. Since then, I played the trumpet through Sophomore year in the High School Concert Band, Pep Band, and Jazz Band, playing as Trumpet 1 in all three bands. Through band I have made many friends and opened a ton of opportunities like UMass Honor Band and playing TAPS for Sutton’s Memorial Day. Although this year I had to give up band due to scheduling conflicts with the WPI band, I still want to be able to return to the trumpet at some point.

Track and Field/Cross Country

I first started competing in Track and Field in 8th grade, joining the team with the intent to throw discus and shotput. However, during that year, my coach noticed that I was built more like a runner, so he put me in the 400m (1/4 mile) and I hated it. But clearly, he had some kind of impact on me because after that year I took up Cross Country and have been doing long distances ever since. Now, at Mass Academy, I still find time to participate in these sports. I currently am in the Cross Country season and have made time to run 4-5x a week. I also still intend to participate in Track and Field. I hope to compete in the 800m and discus in Outdoor Track, while also competing in many other events for the decathlon at the end of the season.

Robotics

I started FRC Robotics in Freshman year, instantly taking a liking to it. I had always been interested in STEM, especially engineering, but I lacked the overall motivation to join an extracurricular revolving around my interest. That was until a group of my friends finally convinced me to join the team. Since joining robotics, I have primarily focused on the Mechanical side of things and have attended many competitions. During 9th and 10th grade I was on team 8544. We went to three total competitions last year placing horribly in the first one (WPI), but we won our second competition (UVM) and placed okay in our third one (districts). I was coach of the field team last year, so I got to stand behind the drivers and give them recommendations in the middle of the match. I love robotics, so I decided to join team 190 this year and plan to continue going through the program throughout high school.

Community Service

Community Service has been a very important part of my life and one of the things my parents raised me to take pride in. Since I was young, I have done community service, doing little things like cleaning up the church my Cub Pack was affiliated with, but since then I have begun doing more for my community, amassing over 300 hours of community service in my Freshman and Sophomore years. I enjoy doing service for others, whether it be maintenance of a trail or helping at school events, community service has become a very influential part of my life.
