Spanish is taught by Sra. Wildfong. In this class, only Spanish is spoken, and we immerse ourselves with different Spanish readings and media. Doing so has helped me greatly improve my speaking and listening skills, and constant participation reinforces this further.
For one of our assignments, each student chose an artist and explained three of their paintings in Spanish. This assignment emphasized the use of positions and objects to effectively describe what was going on in each painting. The artist I chose was El Greco, and for my presentation, I wanted to focus on speaking without referring to notes on the slides.
An assignment I found particularly interesting was the meme contest, where each student created three memes in the language that they were learning. Every week, we get to see a new one posted on the wall outside of Sra. Wildfong's office. Many of them are about STEM, language, or running jokes that we have. Since both French and Spanish are taught, I refer to my classmates who are taking French whenever a meme in French gets posted.
