Math Modeling, taught by Mrs. Burns is not a traditional math class usually seen within public high schools. Maths modeling uses various types of mathamatiques to look at real-world problems with math and suggest solutions. It combines many types of Math calculus, statistics, algebra, ect. It challenges students and encourages them to think outside while using traditional math concepts.
The Anova Presentation was a presentation on the statistical test of Anova. I had never learned Anova before although I had taken AP stats. Me and my group were left alone to learn about a subject I knew extremely little about. In the end, I learned a lot about Anova and why it was so important, and made a great presentation. It is one of the ways this math modeling class makes you grow.
MTFC is the modeling the future challenge, it is a math competition where you and your group choose a problem in the world and attempt to use math and analyze the risk. Try to find possible preventative measures and attempt to calculate how it would change the effect of the problem. We chose the problem of cybercrime, and you can see some of our beginner work on the project. We have to do a lot more on MTFC but we qualified for the semi-finals just recently.
