Welcome to Physics!

Physics, run by Ms. Chase, is the science course at MAMS. It is the most traditional class out of all the classes, having the note worksheet format. However, none of the worksheets or assignments feel like busy work and all grow to advance our knowledge in each of the topics presented. Aside from worksheets, other assignments include labs, POWs, quizzes, and tests. There are multiple opportunities to understand the material, which makes the class interesting.

Traffic Light Problem:

This was our first problem of the week (POW) for physics! We worked in groups and had to use kinematics to figure out what variables go into a traffic light and figuring out how long the traffic light would need to stay yellow for.

Rocket Problem:

This specific rocket problem was the second rocket problem we had to do for physics. During this unit, we were looking at projectile motion and how the overall motion could be broken down into x and y components. This rocket problem had the rocket be launched at an angle with the engine on. Then, the rocket’s engine turned off and it was allowed to free fall. Finally, wind blew the rocket in the opposite direction, and our objective was to calculate the final displacement.
