Humanities, taught by Ms. Small!
Course Description
Humanities combines history and English in an extremely interesting and enlightening way. We learn about topics such as the education system, fallacies, secular poems, Eugenics, and many other important, yet not always highlighted topics in curriculum. I find the work we do in Hum to help me see the world in a different way and makes me more aware of my advantages, dark sides of history, and much more. Additionally, we have assignments called "Hum Journals", where we write about current events, our Mass Academy experience, vocabulary, and English errors we come across in our lives. To see some of the work I have completed for Hum this year, scroll through this page!
This is an assignment from the beginning of the year, and it was based on the book we read over the summer, Walden. We worked in groups to write skits based on the book to perform for the grade at our trip to Bournedale. This assignment was a great way to make friends and be creative while furthering our knowledge on the book. So far, it is my favorite assignment we have had in Hum. This is my group's script!
This assignment was our first essay of the year, where we got to pick our own prompt related to education. We had a great deal of control over what we chose to focus on, which increased interest in writing the essay. It was also very beneficial to read others' essays to learn more about education and different writing styles.
