Back at my sending school, I was a very committed member of the Sharon High School Science Olympiad. Some competitions I’ve attended include the Harvard Undergraduate Science Olympiad, Brown University Science Olympiad, and the Wentworth Institute of Technology State Science Olympiad.
Last year, I did FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) in Sharon on team 19411 Tech Tigers. I helped build and test autos, qualifying for worlds. This year, I am on the programming team for FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) team 190: Gompei and the HERD, working on our new superstructure and autos while helping out on the social media front.
This past year was my first year participating in a science fair, and my project was a multimodal app that detects, classifies and segments brain tumors within MRI images. My project qualified for the Massachusetts State Science and Engineering Fair. Here is the link to my project from last year.
Sophomore year was my second year participating in HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) because I aspire to become a health professional in the future. Along with competing in Medical Innovation, I also got selected for a selective research program through Worcester State University where we did research on sleep medicine.
During the summer, I did wet-lab research at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, where I did research on Drosophila Melanogaster and the effects of factors on sex-specific splicing, which can help for research in diseases like Alzheimer’s.
