Physics

Physics is taught by Mrs. Chase, where we learn the science behind the mechanics and movement of various objects. We begin the year by learning basic calculus, after which we move through the year studying different topics such as Kinematics, Projectiles, Dynamics, etc. In physics, we complete multiple labs, projects, and problem sets that allow us to view science through a mathematical lens, developing our ability to observe and analyze the motion of objects around us.

Dynamics Lab

As mentioned before an essential part of Physics were the labs we conducted throughout the year to understand various topics. One such lab was the Dynamics Lab where we conducted an experiment in order to determine acceleration as the weight of the masses on both sides of a pulley system were altered. Shown to the side is a detailed explanation of the experiment, how it was conducted, and what results we obtained from the experimentation.

Rocket Problem

As part of Physics, we also completed several projects, one of which was the Rocket Problem. In this project, we were required to use kinematics concepts to determine exactly how much time the rocket took to launch, travel through the air, and reach the ground again. Shown here is the complete solution.
