Humanities is a course taught by Ms. Small, in which we explore the human experience and fundamental questions about society. It covers writing, reading, and history. Throughout the year, we delve into a few major topics, including education, rhetoric, and satire.

AI Synthesis Essay

The AI Synthesis Essay was the first essay we wrote in Humanities. Leading up to it, we read many papers on the history of education and other people's perspectives on education. We read the work from figures such as John Dewey and Horace Mann. For this essay, we took a stance on the question: To what extent should AI programs such as ChatGPT play a role in education? Satirical Analysis Essay

After the education unit, we learned about rhetoric and satire. We analyzed the structure and rhetorical devices used by authors in pieces such as Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal" and Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah's "Friday Black."
