Humanities:

Humanities, taught by Mrs. Small, is essentially a combination of history and english. Throughout this course, we explore topics such as education, language, satire, race, and identity. Through a mix of essays, readings, group projects, and class discussions, our goal is to answer our central question, What does it mean to be human?. The class encourages us to think critically, and express our ideas clearly in both writing and discussion.

New York Times Multimedia Challenge

As part of our Education Unit, we participated in the New York Times Multimedia Challenge. This challenge asked us to explore the question “What’s it like to think, create, teach, and learn at a time when artificial intelligence is transforming our world?” in any creative form—whether an essay, painting, photograph, video, or another medium. We also had to write an artist’s statement explaining our submission. For my project, I created a painting that illustrates how AI helps students manage heavy workloads while negatively impacting our individuality. Overall, it was a fun way to engage with this topic and a nice break from traditional classroom work.

I looked at how the film uses satirical devices such as hyperbole, caricature, and irony to convey its message effectively to the audience.
