Hi, my name is Sasha Nandyala and I am currently a junior at Mass Academy. I live in Southborough with my mom, dad and younger sister. For my freshman and sophomore year's of high school I went to Algonquin Regional High School and now I’m a proud MAMS student. My parents immigrated to the U.S in 2000 and moved to Massachusetts in 2005 before me and my sister were born, they moved to Southborough when I was 6 and we’ve lived here ever since!
This year, I spent community service hours by participating in activities affiliated with Mass Academy, such as volunteering at Abby Kelly Foster Charter School. During these events, I helped prepare STEM-related activities for youth and provided small lessons on the science behind them. .
This summer, I will be volunteering at the Worcester Refugee Assistance Project (WRAP), a program dedicated to helping with refugee resettlement in the US. WRAP offers weekly evening meetings to help children make new friends and learn new things. I am excited about the opportunity to make a difference in my community and look forward to contributing to this meaningful cause. .
This summer, I will also be volunteering at the Southborough Library. I look forward to assisting with various library activities, supporting community events, and helping patrons with their needs. Volunteering at the library provides a great opportunity to engage with my community, promote literacy, and contribute to a welcoming environment for all visitors. I am excited to be part of the library team and to make a positive impact in Southborough.
One thing that I love doing in my spare time is play the violin. I’ve been playing violin for the past eight years and I’m currently a member of the WPI string orchestra. Over the years I’ve played a few different instruments including piano for around 6 years and a brief year trying to play the flute, however violin has ended up being the instrument I’ve played longest and been most passionate about. At my sending school I was in their string orchestra and I had the most fun I've ever had playing an instrument. I’ve made so many friends playing the violin whether they’ve been from my sending school or here at MAMS.
Something else that me and my family love to do is travel, we’ve been to many places during past vacations. During a few of my summer vacations I have loved being able to visit my extended family in India and last summer I got to travel to Dubai for a week. Last year for my birthday in December my family and I got to visit the Bahamas on a cruise and earlier this April, we got the opportunity to visit Paris and London. I've always loved the idea of seeing the world and understanding the vast amount of cultures that our planet is filled with.
