About Me!

Spelling: One of my hobbies is spelling, and I’ve been involved in it for a while! In the beginning, I wasn’t that good. However, I started to improve a lot, and in 4th grade, I placed 7th at the NSF Junior Spelling Bee Nationals. I continued to get better from there, and my dream of making it to the Scripps National Spelling Bee came true, as I attended the prestigious event in 8th grade. I even had an article written about me in the Community Advocate, my town's newspaper. I’d say that spelling has been one of the most impactful parts of my life, as I learned qualities such as hard work and resilience that I will continue to cherish throughout my life.

Speech and Debate

Speech and Debate: I also enjoy being a part of my school’s Speech and Debate team. In 6th grade, I used to be deathly afraid of public speaking. I hated talking in presentations, and I dreaded being called on in class. However, that all changed when I joined my school’s Speech and Debate team. Ever since then, I’ve been much more comfortable with speaking in front of others. During my time on the team, I’ve also enjoyed some success. In 8th grade, I was the National Co-Champion in my category (Declamation). The next year, I was named Best Freshman in State, and this year, I was 5th at the George Mason University National Invitational. However, the award I cherish most is probably the “Most committed in Class of 2026” award, as it is a testament to the effort that I put into this activity.

Research: I’ve also been extremely interested in biology. After taking the course in 9th grade, I became extremely curious about the field of biology, particularly genetics. So, to take this passion further, I conducted a research project about genetics, and I competed in my school’s science fair. I was able to make it to WRSEF. Overall, biology has been yet another part of me that is crucial, and I look forward to taking it to the next level.

Community Service

Community Service: Additionally, I’ve really enjoyed giving back to my community through community service. I believe that giving back to the people who have done so much for you is crucial, which is why I try to volunteer whenever I can! I run spelling bee workshops for middle schoolers, and the proceeds go to EKAL, a non-profit dedicated to providing education to underprivileged kids in India. Furthermore, I enjoy partaking in Community Harvest, and I also like helping out with the Speech and Debate teams in the middle schools in Shrewsbury. I’d say that community service has been a huge part of my life, and I’m excited to continue it throughout the rest of my life.

Music: Finally, I really enjoy playing music. I've always been interested in the beats of a song, and so, I decided to pick percussion as an instrument. I've been playing it for around 5 years now, and I've learnt a lot! I've also been part of various musical groups. I was part of the Worcester Youth Symphony Orchestra in 9th grade, and I've been in the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra for about 2 years now! Music has been a huge part of my life, and I hope to continue my involvement with it for the rest of my life.
