I create a lot of art, from paintings to colored pencils drawings to sketches in pencil or charcoal. I like painting in my free time, and create colored pencil drawings mostly for art competitions such as the Scholastic Art Competition. I also created a variety of different art during the art classes I took at my sending school, Algonquin. Click here for a page dedicated to the art I make.
I have done Chinese Traditional Dance for over ten years now. My dance company competes at various dance competitions at a regional and national level. It’s nice to be able to connect with my culture through dance and be part of a community of Chinese American dancers. Here are some pictures/videos of me at competitions or performances.
I attended this language school to learn Mandarin Chinese when I was younger; it helped me prepare for AP Chinese Language and Culture (which I took in 9th grade) and improved my Mandarin Chinese drastically, because the only other place I ever speak it is at home with my parents. Last year (10th grade) I volunteered there as a TA for the Kindergarten class; I really enjoyed dealing with the energetic children despite all the silly things they’d do and say, especially because I used to be in their position, and now that I’m older, I can give back to my community through being a TA. I am TAing the Kindergarten class again this year.
I have played the flute for over five years now, although I wasn't a part of my sending school's band in 9th and 10 grade due to scheduling conflicts. Last year, I played flute in WYWE, which exposed me to various new experiences, such as performing in Mechanics Hall. I’ve had to adapt a lot after getting my braces off, but now I currently play in WPI's concert band.
