Welcome to Physics!

This class is taught by Mrs. Chase, in which we follow the AP Physics C: Mechanics Curriculum. So far we have completed units such as Kinematics, Dynamics, and Energy & Momentum. Currently, we are focusing on circular motion.

Acceleration on an Inclined Plane Lab

During the kinematics unit, we completed a lab by running an experiment with a cart on an inclined plane. We used a photogate sensor to tracked the cart's velocity on different incline heights.

We then analyzed the data and used kinematic equations in order to create a graph of the calculated acceleration results. This lab was a great experience as I gained experience in writing lab reports and also got a better understanding on the concept of acceleration.

Dynamics Lab

This is another one of the labs that we have done in Physics so far this year. In this lab, we got to make our own question that we could research to analyze regarding Atwood's machines. My group chose the following question: "Does the relationship between the force from the hanging mass, total mass, and acceleration of a cart in a modified Atwood's machine with an additional external force obey Newton's Second Law (F=ma)?" Look at the document on the left for more information on my lab.
