The Mass Academy Community Service (MACS) Club offers many opportunites to help out the community throughout the summer and during the school year. Throughout junior year, I participated in some of the monthly STEM Saturdays at the Worcester Public Library. We planned activities about light, the chemical reactions in slime, the structure of DNA, and lemon batteries to teach children about STEM. Going into senior year, I will be co-leading MACS with Noah and Lydia.
Every year Mass Academy dedicates the day after October break to community service. This year, a majority of the students decided to volunteer to teach elementary and middle school children at Tatnuck Magnet School a lesson on STEM. My group and I helped to plan and teach a lesson on magnets to third graders.
Project New Hope is an organization that helps veterans and their families rebuild their lives. This organization runs a food and baby item pantry, hosts reteats, and helps veterans get the support they need. I volunteered at Sully's Food and Baby Pantry to help fill orders and distribute food and houshold items to veterans and their families for 45 hours over the summer before Junior year and hope to continue working with them this year.
