To spread our passions for science, technology, engineering, and math, juniors at Mass Academy have the opportunity to teach lessons and run engaging activities at a local elementary school to celebrate STEM week. For my group's activity, we ran a spool racer activity, where students were challenged to make the strongest and fastest cart they could using one spool, a rubber band, a wooden dowel, washers, and a few other supplies. Not only was this activity super fun for the students, but it also helped them gain a better understanding of the conservation of energy and the overall engineering and design process.
Located in Grafton, MA, the Community Harvest Project is dedicated to donating fresh produce to families in need. It is a volunteer-run farm, and I've really enjoyed contributing to their mission.
