In Humanities (or simply HUM), we touch upon just as many aspects of Humanities as we possibly can, including history, social studies, English, psychology, etc. In the end, we’re trying to answer the question, “What does it mean to be human?”
Our first project in this class was to create a skit (performed at Bournedale) based on the book Walden by Henry David Thoreau. The theme of the skit could be anything, so my group members and decided to have Mr. Beast go back in time to challenge Thoreau to stay in his cabin and the woods for a week. Readers know that Thoreau did not tend to do this, and so *SPOILER ALERT* Thoreau manages to lose this challenge fairly quickly.
In class, we also had to write an essay that had to do with a theme of education. I've noticed in the past that students see to have a lack of direct representation on school committees, and their voices are frequently neglected when making decisions for the school. I've always thought of this as unjust, and thus I chose to focus on this as the topic of my essay. Scroll down to check it out!
