About Me

Hello, my name is Jotham Sserwadda, and I am a junior in the Mass Academy class of 2026. I was born in Uganda and moved to the U.S. with my family in 2017. We initially settled in Boston but later moved to Framingham, where I attended Keefe Tech before eventually joining Mass Academy.

At my previous school, I participated in Cross Country, Wrestling, and Track, where I achieved many personal bests. In my free time, I enjoy going to the gym with my friends and exploring new places. This once led me to randomly bike from Framingham to Lexington and back, just because I could. At one point, I was very into anime, but these days, I can go months without fully completing an episode. My favorite anime is Jobless Reincarnation.

Some of my other hobbies are learning more about history, geopolitics, anthropology, philosophy, and Christianity. I have always been curious about humans and the way they interact with themselves and the world they live in.

A big motivator for me is my family, supporting me in any way that they can while also keeping me accountable.

Pretty the Cat

Pretty the cat
This is Pretty, my cat. She is probably the most two-faced animal I have ever had. One moment she’s purring and enjoying your company, and the next she’s hissing and running away. We got her around January this year, and she was meant to be an indoor cat, but since she loves going outside, we eventually gave up on keeping her indoors. Unless she’s outside, she doesn’t like being alone and prefers to be in someone's company.

Cooking

Cooking is one of my favorite things to do in my free time. Before I learned how to cook, I was only cutting the ingredients for the dishes. By the time I started cooking, I could cut very well—so much so that a chef from Keefe Tech’s culinary department said I cut better than most of the juniors he taught (I was a freshman at the time). Before COVID, my cooking skills were not the best, but during the pandemic, I was able to refine my craft by watching my sister cook in the kitchen. She took me on as her helper, and I learned a lot about cooking from her, and I still do to this day. I cook a lot of beans, rice, peas, chicken, beef, and potatoes. I sometimes branch out of my comfort zone and do some baking every now and then, making cookies, banana bread, and chocolate cake. My favorite and simplest dish to cook is the Ugandan Rolex. The name comes from "rolled eggs," but it evolved as people said it. It is essentially eggs with sliced fresh tomato rolled into a chapati, very simple yet absolutely delicious.
