In Math Modeling, we model real world situations using math. These skills are developed through a variety of mathematical methods such as Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus.
Early in the year as one of our first mathematical modeling projects, we designed how a school could bring on new teachers to most fairly split them amongst classes. The definition of “fair” was decided by us and we had free reign to assign the teachers wherever we’d like. Pictured left is my group’s project.

Another project we have worked on this year is for the Modeling the Future Challenge, where we create a risk mitigation strategy to a problem in a similar fashion to actuarial work. My group chose to mitigate the risks of airlines and their payouts to customers when flights are overbooked or delayed.
