French is split up into two sections: Advanced French and Intermediate French. Fortunately, Madame Wildfong (our teacher) strives to meet every student at their starting point and elevate their immersion in the language, especially as we all start from different backgrounds. Contrary to most foreign language classes, we rarely take notes on grammar concepts directly, but rather participate in activities which compel us to use and grow our understanding. So far this year, we have read multiple books and watched multiple movies to immerse ourselves into the French language and culture. Currently, we are making a movie about a police officer seeking to reunite with his childhood friends.
At the beginning of the year, we started off the class with reading Beauty and the Beast as it a very popular fairy tale with French origins. While reading the book, we also watched a movie based on the same book. After reading the book, I wrote a fairy tale of my own using Mass Academy as inspiration.
