The Modeling The Future Challenge (MTFC) tasks us with researching and modeling real-world data to analyze risks and recommend mitigation strategies. My team, "Less Than Three," is focusing on soil erosion and ways to lessen its impact. In the first phase, we learned the actuarial process, collected data, and examined risk management strategies. Now, in the project phase, we are receiving guidance from an expert to refine and guide our project to develop solutions.
The Birthday Problem of the Week was about finding a method to determine the day of the week for any birthday between 1901 and 2100. After working through several attempts with Hannah and Mary, we finally found a solution! We had to use only the October 2024 calendar and a four-function calculator. We were also given a list of celebrity birthdays and their days of the week to help verify our solution. Afterward, we documented our process and solution in a write-up. For your convenience, here’s a functional version of our solution on CODE.ORG: Link
